Coaching Requirements
There are currently three requirements for individuals who wish to coach sports in the Township of River Vale.
- Concussion Certification
- Rutgers SAFETY Certification
- Background Check/Fingerprinting
Concussion Certification
You will be required to register on the site before you can take the course. Follow the prompts to get to the course itself. It is free, but you have to register and go through the “billing” process.
Upon completion, please print a certificate for your records and either email or send/drop off another copy of the certificate to River Vale Town Hall, 406 Rivervale Road, Attn: Joanne Allgor.
A copy of the certificate is required to enable us to record your completion.
Rutgers SAFETY Certification
This is a New Jersey State requirement for all adults who want to coach children. The program is offered virtually via Zoom as well as in person around the state. Once complete, the Rutgers certification lasts a lifetime.
Background Check
This is a requirement of the Township of River Vale. You will need to make an appointment for fingerprinting, which can be completed at a few locations, including Garfield, NJ and New City, NY.
The appointment must be made online. Please use 2F1J3Y as the Service Code for a volunteer, and B11002 as the Contributor Case Number (Unique Identifier).
A fee of $21.44 will be charged at the time of scheduling. Upon successful completion of the process, you will be notified by the league director of the sport for which you want to coach. Once complete, the background check lasts three years.
